All Rituals Have Meaning

A ritual is an action that has a set order and/or a set time. Examples of religious rituals include wearing the prayer shawl and kissing the tzitzit. There are set times for wearing them and set ways of handling them. Round #1: Brainstorm ritual categories (e.g., school rituals, bed-time rituals, religious rituals). Then brainstorm specific rituals within each category and list them on a poster board. Round #2: Explain the purpose behind each ritual. Why do you (or others) do it? What feeling does it bring up? Who does it benefit? How?
