Make Your Own Talit
Atara: Design your own atara to look like a crown, that is, a tzitz. Use felt fabric, fabric paint, sequins, and any other available material. Because the word tzitz also means a blossom, include floral designs using stencils or free-style drawing. Sew the atara onto the edge of a piece of fabric sized to your liking as a talit.
Knotted Cords: Learn how to tie the knots. Practice with a square piece of felt fabric for the corner and yarn for the strands. Tie them according to your family or synagogue tradition. Research how the Yemenites tie their knots. Note that there are many kits available online when you are ready to make your final set.
